Rhinoplasty is one of the most commonly performed plastic surgery procedures. It aims at changing the shape and size of a person’s nose. Also, it is performed for correcting medical problems. If you are considering undergoing the nose surgery then make sure you are able to find out as much information as possible about it. It is an important decision that requires you to make a significant amount of investment. In order to make sure that you get the optimal result, make sure you follow the instructions given by the rhinoplasty surgeon in India to prepare for the surgery.

To begin with, you should be psychologically and emotionally prepared for the change that you will experience after undergoing this procedure.  It is extremely important for you to compare surgeons and do proper research about them before making any decision. Make sure that you choose the most experienced and qualified surgeon who has been performing rhinoplasty surgery for last many years.  Discuss with the surgeon about the procedure, associated pros and cons and clear all your doubts and queries.

Only those patients who have realistic expectations from the procedure should consider it. Also, you should know that recovery time varies from patient to patient. In most cases, patients who have undergone nose reconstruction surgery can resume work after three weeks. However, it might take much longer time to see the accurate results of the procedure.

People who smoke and are considering this cosmetic surgery procedure have to quit smoking at least two weeks before the surgery. It is otherwise also a life threatening and unhealthy habit. However, smoking increases the chances of complications and risks during and after surgery. In addition, prepare yourself to refrain from smoking throughout the process of recovery.

Avoid intake of ibuprofen, aspirin and other anti-inflammatory drugs that can affect the ability of the body to stop bleeding during and after rhinoplasty surgery. Make sure that you have someone who can drive you home after the surgery.

The most important thing that you should prepare yourself for is the cost associated with the procedure. Although you can find out about the approximate cost calling a surgeon or visiting the website, the best way to figure out the nose job cost in Delhi is by consulting a surgeon who has been performing this surgery for last many years.

Rhinoplasty Surgery FAQ's
  • Who Is A Candidate For Rhinoplasty?
Rhinoplasty is performed on men and women of almost all ages. It is a common procedure for teenagers, those in their 20’s to 40’s, as well as for those in their 50’s or 60’s who are unhappy with the way their nose has changes as they aged. As long as there are realistic expectations, most people who are unhappy with the appearance of their nose and can specify what really bothers them, are candidates.
  • Is There Anyone Who Should Not Have A Rhinoplasty?
As long as the person is in good health and does not smoke for at least 2 weeks before the surgery, there are no major contraindications to the procedure. It is very important, though, to understand the goals of the procedure, and have realistic expectations.
  • At what age are you old enough to have a rhinoplasty?
Rhinoplasty can be performed on young men and woman after their facial growth has been completed. This typically translates into age 15-16 for woman and 16-17 for men.
  • How Long Does The Surgery Take?
The surgery can take anywhere from 1 - 3 hours depending on the technique used and the complexity of the case. Average time is 2 ½ hours.
  • When Will I See The Final Results?
The nose can swell considerably after surgery. It takes approximately 1 month for 80% of the swelling to go down. It may take 6 months to 1 year for all the swelling to be gone and to see the final result.
  • How Much Bruising, Swelling, And Pain Is There?
If the nasal bones are broken, there will be a fair amount of swelling and bruising around the nose and eyes. The bruising will take 1 to 2 weeks to disappear. The majority of the swelling will be gone in 1 month. There is some discomfort for the first 3 to 5 days that is alleviated with pain pills.
  • Will My Nose Have To Be Broken?
In the majority of cases, patients have a wide nasal base. By fracturing the nasal bones, the width of the nose can be reduced. While the bones do not have to be broken, reducing the width of the nose will often make the nose more attractive.
  • How Long Is The Incision? Will It Be Noticeable?
The incisions on the inside of the nose are not visible. The incision on the outside leaves a very fine scar that is difficult to see once it has healed. It measures only about 4 to 5 millimeters.
  • What Are The Potential Risks With This Type Of Surgery?
Risks include a worsened appearance, scar deformity, asymmetry, worsened breathing, hole (defect) in the septum, and prolonged bleeding. These are all relatively rare.
  • What Type Of Anesthesia Is Used?
The surgery is usually done under Local Anaesthesia or General Anaesthesia
  • Will There Be Stitches That Have To Come Out?
If the rhinoplasty is done with the open technique, the sutures come out at 7 days. Sutures placed in the inside of the nose are absorbable and will fall out after a few weeks.
  • When Do I Come Back To See The Surgeon?
You will see the Dr. after 7 days to remove the dressing, and then periodically to make sure you are progressing as you should.
  • After The Stitches Are Out And I Have Totally Recovered, Do I Ever Need To Come Back?
Dr. will ideally want to see you after 6 months, 1 year, and 2 years to check your progress.
  • When Will I See The Final Results?
It will take 3 to 4 weeks for most of the swelling to resolve and probably 6 to 12 months for all if it to resolve. After this you should have a reasonably good idea of what the final look will be.

Are You Unhappy With Your Nose?

Nose Surgery in Delhi helps in either decreasing or increasing the size of nose. Few people want to alter the angle between their nose and upper lips while others want to get their nose reshaped. When it comes to performing rhinoplasty, cosmetic surgeon takes into consideration some factors such as the nasal changes to be done, skin on the nose and facial features. The lower portion of nose is cartilage while the upper part is bone. The surgical process can alter akin, bone, cartilage or all three as per the need of the patient.

When you prefer undergoing nose surgery in Delhi then chances of getting improved look are much more. It is classified into two types – Closed Rhinoplasty or Open Rhinoplasty, on the basis of incision made by the surgeon.

Open Rhinoplasty
It is performed without accessing the bones and cartilages of the nose.  This, in turn, ensures the safety of internal parts of nose. An incision is made across columella. It is a thin lining of tissues separating the nostrils.   When an incision is made across columella, surgeon can remove the tip of the skin safely, and thus perform surgery successfully. The only downside is that it leaves a scar on the nose’s underside. However, cosmetic surgeons believe that open rhinoplasty is the best option in several cases.

Closed Rhinoplasty
In closed rhinoplasty procedure, cosmetic surgeon makes an incision in the internal side of the nose. He has liberty to remove bones and cartilages inside the nose, if the need be. One who is undergoing this procedure has to worry not at all about external scaring in this surgical procedure. There is very possibility that surgeons might perform an artificial implant surgery for giving desired shape to the nose as per the need of the patient.
